Looking for a new hobby, skill, or just a fun way to try something different? MetroWest is full of opportunities to learn, create, and discover hidden talents. Whether you’re visiting for the day or planning a longer stay, you’ll find classes, workshops, and hands-on experiences that let you expand your horizons—from baking and fine arts to fitness, science, and even chocolate-making. Here are some of the best ways to jump in and explore something new this season!

  • Take a baking class at Duck Soup such as their Cannoli class offered on Sunday, October 12th at 1pm plus check out their other amazing classes!
  • Make a Gourd-gous creation and master the art of pumpkin carving on Wednesday, October 22nd from 6pm-9pm at New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, one of many incredible classes offered there.
  • Learn how artisan spirits are crafted on a Distillery Tour at GlenPharmer.
  • Take an Art with Animals class at Unity Farm Sanctuary on Sunday, October 5th from 11am – 1pm. A professional artist will guide you through a step-by-step process as you learn to paint one of the rescued farm animals. Check out their schedule for tours of the farm and other great classes.
  • Hopkinton Center for the Arts offers an array of arts classes and one-day workshops in disciplines such as ceramics, dance, music, theater, and visual arts.

 

  • Learn how to play pickleball, the hottest new trend, at either Bosse Pickleball or Clocktower Pickleball.
  • Try out a great class in fiber arts at Craftworks! Offering knitting, crocheting, needle felting, weaving and more!
  • Take an Introduction to Flameworking – Glass Beads workshop at Elsie Kaye or try out one of her other jewelry making classes.
  • Pursue one of the many great classes or workshops in drawing, mixed media, performing arts and much more at the Umbrella Arts Center.
  • Learn how cocoa beans are sourced as well as each step of the chocolate-making process (including roasting, grinding, pressing and molding) in this informative tour at Goodnow Farms Chocolate. And don’t miss their Haunted Barn Party on Oct 24 & 25.

 

  • Take a class in quilling, jewelry-making, painting and more at Serendipity.
  • Join Bay State Brawlers where aspiring skaters can learn to become Roller Derby all-stars!
  • Turn an old article of clothing (from you or a loved one!) into a bag, blanket, or other accessory at Helen’s Handbags.
  • Take a STEM class in ham radio, rocketry, astronomy, engineering and more at New England Sci Tech.
  • Learn the basics of aerial work (come swing from the rafters!) in a kids’ or adults’ class at Earth & Aerial Yoga.
