Star Spangled Fun

Presidents' Day Weekend: 3 days / 2 nights

DAY 1:

  • Experience an inspiring program at the American Heritage Museum as part of its speaker series featuring Ashlen Hyatt Nunnery, author of Mud Pies and Warplanes: A POW Kid’s Story of Love, Loss, and Legacy. Through her deeply personal narrative, Nunnery shares a powerful account of growing up as the child of a prisoner of war, offering unique insight into resilience, family bonds, and the lasting impact of wartime experiences. Following the presentation, explore the Museum’s vast collection of World War II artifacts and exhibits, bringing history to life through immersive displays and rare vehicles.
  • Then, check into the Warren Conference Center and Inn, a tranquil retreat nestled in the woods of Ashland and overlooking more than 100 acres of scenic lakefront. This peaceful setting offers a perfect home away from home, blending natural beauty with cozy comfort. During your stay, enjoy a hike along wooded trails, try your hand at the disc golf course which is open during the winter months or lace up your ice skates and experience the outdoor skating rink. In the evening, unwind in colorful Adirondack chairs gathered around the fire pit, where you can relax, enjoy the crisp air, and savor s’mores under the stars.
  • Enjoy dinner at Henry’s Place, the on-site restaurant at the Warren Conference Center and Inn. The menu offers something for everyone, from nourishing grain bowls to delicious Neapolitan-style pizzas made with fresh ingredients. Pair your meal with an exquisite craft cocktail, each playfully named after the dogs that frequently roam and walk the property.

DAY 2:

  • Secure some breakfast from The Donut Stand Café in Hopkinton. These decadent treats are made from ingredients from local farmers and suppliers and are delightful!
  • Get your toe tapping at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival at the Renaissance Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. In its 40th year and honoring the legendary New England mandolin player, Joe Val, this festival includes workshops, master classes and informal jam sessions.
  • Enjoy Malone’s Irish Pub & Social right in the Renaissance Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Featuring Irish-inspired comfort dishes with a New England flair such as Dublin Bay steamed mussels and local Jack’s Abby craft beers perfect for pairing good company and great conversation.

DAY 3:

  • Check out the local flavor and stop by Boston Honey Company for some Massachusetts made maple syrup or maple bacon jam! Visit The Vintage Caliber for a curated selection of distinctive home décor and vintage treasures that will add character and charm to your home.
  • Then, pop over to Lookout Farm for some relaxation, some ciders and BBQ! Enjoy some live music in the taproom bar from 6pm-9pm.
