Communities throughout MetroWest are coming together to honor Juneteenth with events that celebrate freedom, culture, and community. From live music and family-friendly activities to historical reflections and local markets, there are many ways to take part. Here’s a look at what’s happening near you.

Boston, MAJuneteenth Franklin Massachusetts
Museum of Fine Arts – Boston
Thursday, June 19th – In honor of Juneteenth—the oldest nationally observed commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States—the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is offering free admission to all Massachusetts residents (with a valid Massachusetts Zip Code). Enjoy special programming throughout the day, including performances, art-making activities, and talks. Don’t miss the acclaimed exhibition Van Gogh: The Roulin Family Portraits, as well as Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson, which explores the 60-year career of the Roxbury native through a powerful range of media.

Framingham, MA
Greater Framingham Community Church – 5th Annual Community Celebration
Saturday, June 21st from 1:00–6:00 PM at Farm Pond Park (100 Dudley Street).
Enjoy food, raffles, games, music, vendors, performers, guest speakers, and a fashion show.

Medway, MA
Medway Marches – 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom
Thursday, June 19th from 12:00–4:30 PM at Medway Community Farm (50 Winthrop Street).
Features include performances, dancing, DJ Alcide, food trucks, a kids’ creation station, bouncy castle, games, BIPOC artisan market, and a craft beer garden.

Natick, MA
Thursday, June 19th at 10:30 AM on Natick Common, co-hosted by Natick Historical Society and Natick is United
The day begins with a reading of Frederick Douglass’ powerful 1852 speech, “What to a Slave is the 4th of July?” at 10:30 AM on Natick Common. From 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Natick Center Cultural District will host a Juneteenth celebration featuring food, activities, and live music by Drum Nomads and Squeezebox Stompers.
