Roots & Reflection Weekend

DAY 1:

  • Attend The American Heritage Museum’s Battle of the Airfield World War II Re-Enactment. There will be over 350 re-enactors representing several branches of Allied and Axis Military participating in encampments and battles.  Hear from actual veterans of the war at the roundtable discussion.
  • Enjoy a quiet, peaceful retreat at the Hampton Inn in Marlborough with well-appointed rooms and breakfast in the morning, this hotel is the perfect place to spend the weekend.

DAY 2:

  • Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Franklin St. Café in Treat yourself to a hot, comforting coffee and fluffy egg and cheese omelet to start your day off right.
  • Take a stroll around Framingham to enjoy the “Many Cultures, One Heart” public art project. Explore vibrant heart-shaped sculptures throughout the community, each uniquely designed to reflect the stories, traditions, and creativity of Framingham’s many cultures. Don’t forget to scan the QR codes on the statues’ bases to watch videos and hear directly from the artists about the inspiration behind each piece.   • Then, Drop into Art at The Danforth. October’s theme, Family in Focus, centers around the photography of Sonya Tanae Fort, whose work beautifully captures family members and meaningful moments. Join the creative fun by crafting your own family tree as a mobile using portraits, symbols, and mixed media materials, a hands-on way to reflect on the people who shape your story.

DAY 3:

  • Power up at Aero Coffee Roasters in Northborough. Start your day with a cozy chai latte and savory bacon, egg, and cheese.
  • Step into a world of enchantment at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill during the Weekend of Wonder! The Garden transforms into a realm of imagination and delight. Sip seasonal brews and savor local bites in their open-air beer garden, explore a magical marketplace filled with whimsical treasures, and wander through the Stranger Plants exhibit, a dreamlike display of rare and unusual flora.  Enjoy fantastic crafts, hands-on workshops, and live entertainment designed for all ages. Come dressed as your favorite fantasy creature and celebrate the magic of the season!
  • Enjoy a diverse menu, craft beer selection and neighborhood vibe at The Neighborhood Tavern where you can savor delicious roast beef sandwiches and crisp, flavorful tots!
